Over The L’Arc-en-Ciel: Will you get over them?

Many fans and media have written their thoughts and reviews about this documentary movie of L’Arc-en-Ciel’s World Tour 2012. Most of them have voiced out my opinions, but I’ll still write mine here to make it memorable, at least for me.

Well, during L’Arc’s live in National Stadium (Kokuritsu Kyogijou) in March 2014, it has been mentioned that there will be a new single in November 2014 and a documentary movie in December 2014. So it wasn’t a surprise anymore. At first, we fans thought that the movie might only be screened in Japan. On early December 2014, the roadshow in Japan started, and as expected, international fans couldn’t stay calm (LOL). We started requesting for overseas screening in our countries.

Indonesian fanbase L’Arc-en-Ciel Indonesia (@Cielers_ID) made a quick move and organized a project to make the screening happen in Indonesia. Titled Over The L’Arc-en-Ciel Placard Project, we managed to collect around 300 photos of fans holding placards asking for the movie to be brought to Indonesia. The photos were collated into a well-designed book and e-book, published online and sent to L’Arc’s management. The book received a good response from the management.

At the same time, Moxienotion, a movie distributor who often brings Japanese movies to Indonesia contacted us and talked about the possibility to bring OTL movie to Indonesia. We were so happy and of course convinced them that
many people wanted to watch it and they would watch it.

December passed and January came. Fans were waiting for the screening info. Some were patient, some were not. They were anxious that the schedule might not fit or too sudden. Some said they need to book flight tickets, so they
wanted to know the schedule as soon as possible. The schedule came out as 23-25 January 2015, but then postponed to 13-15 February 2015. Pre-sale tickets sold started from 29 January, exactly on Hyde’s birthday. Indonesia was the first overseas country that has the schedule fixed. What’s more awesome? We got screenings for THREE DAYS, at SEVEN theatres. Later on, schedules for other countries announced. They only got one day screening in each country, except Singapore that had 2 day schedule.

I was grateful to have given a chance to watch the premiere. It was such an emotional documentary which I needed to watch it more than once to absorb all the contents. The documentary was very rich, it captured the pre-production
involving various staff, anticipation of fans including crazy welcomes at airports (sadly Indonesian fans didn’t get the arrival time informed), the band’s feelings, and the after-concert impressions. We could see that the band had matured and members don’t require word-conversation to connect with each other. On the other hand, we saw that a world-class band like L’Arc-en-Ciel could also get nervous performing at the “holy” venue, Madison Square Garden. We saw them being very serious and perfectionist in preparing the concert to the point of scolding staff members, while later on they would have fun such as riding an open-roof bus at night or even having a fortune-telling (LOL).

Idealistically, the movie tried to capture the preparation, the live cut, the members’ thoughts, and fans’ impressions in each venue. But I think it would be difficult featuring all of those in one documentary covering 14 cities (Hongkong, Bangkok, Shanghai, Taipei, New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Jakarta, Seoul, Yokohama, Osaka, Tokyo, and Honolulu), so they chose which aspects were more interesting in one venue than the others. I wonder if there will be an extended version (LOL). I really want to see more of it.

As a fan of L’Arc-en-Ciel since 2002, it was a pity that I wasn’t in my own country when they held the World Tour. But Thanks God, I still could watch it in Seoul where I lived at that time. The atmosphere was different as Korea had been visited before, unlike Indonesia. But as Hyde said, though the races are different, the fans have the same smile. One of the fans interviewed said, “When we really like something, language is no longer a barrier. We didn’t know other fans before, but we quickly became close because we like the same thing.” Another fan said, “The band helps me many times when I need them. I can get through difficult times because of them.”

Conclusion: Over The L’Arc-en-Ciel documentary movie is awesome, but surely I won’t be able to get over them. Ever.

I Love ELLEGARDEN!! Yeah!! XD

Entah kesambet apaan, kmaren malem pas nyari DLan Orion-nya Mika Nakashima, tiba2 gw pengen bgt ngeklik tag ELLEGARDEN, band punk favorit gw…Dan ternyataaa ada rilisan Best of ELLEGARDEN 1998-2008. Huaaaa!! Berhubung semua mp3 ELLEGARDEN gw lenyap bersama hard disk yg tewas awal 2007 lalu, otomatis gw nggak update band ini selama 2 tahun…And I still love them ternyataa…

Dia langsung kaget, "Hah?? Simple Plan kok nyanyi Jepang?" XDD

And I present one of my fav songs…Judulnya MARRY ME…The lyrics are just funny, about a pitiful and a loser boy…Baca deh liriknya, dijamin ngakak or at least senyum…

MARRY ME

Somewhere closer I can hear the wedding bell

It’s a fine day I am wearing a blue shirts like the sky

I am standing in the line while holding confetti

I see the girl of my dream she’s shining like the sun… beside him

Won’t you marry me if I could be a rich boy

Won’t you marry me if I could be very handsome

Won’t you marry me if I could be a tall guy

Don’t you marry him if I could be in the next life

You’re an idol in high school He was a quarter back

He has sold me a photocopy of your photograph

I am standing in the line while holding confetti

I see the girl of my dream she’s smiling like the sun in her wedding dress

Won’t you marry me if I could be a rich boy

Won’t you marry me if I could be very handsome

Won’t you marry me if I could be a tall guy

Don’t you marry him if I could be in the next life

Maybe not… She don’t remember me

Maybe not… She don’t know how I feel

Maybe not… She don’t even know my last name

Won’t you marry me if I could be a rich boy

Won’t you marry me if I could be very handsome

Won’t you marry me if I could be a tall guy

Don’t you marry him

He’s just another stupid in the next life
